Protecting a strecth of text from deletion...

Is there a way to protect a run of text from being deleted? For example, the
Rich Edit Control's RTF has a control word called "protect". Any text with
this property is visible but not-deleteable. Is there something equivalent
in Word 2000 and above?

Under Tools --> Protection -- you can select Forms -- then protect the
sections of your Document --- as long as you insert a section bread before
and after your desired protected text --this should work for you. Check
that out and see if that would work for you! You won't be enabled for
deletion or editing -- although you can modify any other non - protected
text.

Cool idea. Would this work if the text is very small - say one or two
characters? I want to something like this

This is <g> a sentence </g> with internal <x> tags.

where all the tags are protected from deletion.
