PST file 1.8GB in size

I have a VP who's PST file is 1.8GB in size. His connection to the Exchange
2000 Server is dropped several times a day. At times when he reboots his
workstation, it ask that whether he wants to start Outlook in safe mode.
Wheneverhe opens outlook, it takes several minutes for it to come up. It is
not a network issue, his trying to access a network resource works fine.

I have several other users who's PST files are at least 1.5GB in size and do
not have any problems.

Thanks in advance...

Once you get up around 2GB you are on dangerous ground. There is a 2GB
limit on pst's, but i always see problems as the user approaches this limit.
Is the pst on his computer or the network? Thats an awful lot of data to
pull off a network drive everytime you do anything in outlook.

I would have him break up his pst in to multiple files- better (and faster)
to have a couple smaller files than one big one. When a pst of that size
corrupts (and it will) he might be SOL.
