PST file disappears

Greetings,
I am running Outlook 2000. The system checks out clean. No Virus, no disk
problems, etc.
The outlook.pst file just flat disappeared. Is this a known problem ? How
do I get it back ?

thanks,
Darryl

Have you done a search on your hard drive or your network drives to see if
it is out there but in a different location than you are expecting? If it
was on a network drive, can your admins restore it from backups?

Did a search and No pst file found. pst is not on a network share due to
the
lag it would introduce. User did not backup their pst file either, and thus
has
no safety net.

btw, I am not the use, just said it to simplify the communication.

When searching for the .pst file, did the user enable the option to include
hidden files? Is the user on Windows XP whose file search has known
defects? If so, use a replacement search utility or just do "dir /s *.pst"
from C:\.

If the user can open Outlook and see their e-mails (but for some reason
thinks the .pst file is gone which obviously it is not), have the user
right-click on the root folder for that information store (.pst file),
select Properties, Advanced, and see what it reports is the fully qualified
path and filename of their .pst file.
