Pub 2002 Printing problem

P

Patrick

I have used Publisher for some time now but after a PC
upgrade to XP I purchased and installed Office (2002) XP
and separately MS Publisher (2002) XP. I have version
2002 10.412P.4219 SP-2 installed.

I now find that everything I try to print from Publisher -
even any of the preset pages - is offset horizontally to
the right by about 6.5 cms. The top and bottom margins
are OK, it's just that the whole image appears to be
shifted to the right. This applies whether I use my new
Panasonic KX-P7100 laser printer or my older Epson Stylus
Photo 870.

Print Preview always shows the image in place OK but that
appears to mean nothing. As printing is taking place the
Publisher Help file is opened (automatically) at the
point where printing problems are discussed so I presume
this is some sort of error message. It suggests checking
paper size and printer memory. I have done that. (I am
using A4 paper and all is set up for that). I don't have
insufficient memory in the Laser and in any case the
problem also occurs with the inkjet which is not memory
affected as far as I know. I have checked the status of
the driver and updated it to the latest version without
effect.

However this problem does NOT happen if I print to
Acrobat (v 5). All images print out fine if first
printed to Acrobat and then printed from there.

I have checked margins, tabs etc without anything being
wrong.

Can anyone help me sort this out please?

Regards

Patrick

This is a printer driver issue, not a Publisher issue. I would contact the
manufacturers of your printer(s).

Brian K it cannot be a printer driver issue, as Publisher 2002 is printer
driver independent.

There must be something screwed up in the printing system, but it will not
be two printer drivers.

I would suggest you may have incorrect page sizes or something like that.

In XP you need to check the printer driver options carefully, as in some
printer drivers there is more than one place to set the page size or
pertinent options.

After managing to set up OE-QuoteFix on his new PC, Ed reads a message
from Patrick said:

I would suggest that you have not told your printer drivers what paper size
you are using.
