.pub file to .doc

"John" <[email protected]> has asked a question that I
need the answer to as well.

"Does anyone know if there is a way to save or convert a
Publisher file to Word format?

I sometimes need to email a publication to others who do
not have Publisher, but they do have Word. I can find no
way to do this within Publisher."

Please help.

What version of Publisher do you have? I know that the 2003 beta has the
Save As option for MS Word. In addition, the RTF format works very well for
Word. Finally, Publisher can export HTML which Word can also import.

PDF export can be a good solution as well. Intent is the key here.

Yes, but that doesn't save any graphics/formatting. IMNSHO, PDF is the
*only* solution as all formatting would be preserved.

We have to do this AGAIN???

The OP said *publication*.
Publication implies layout, which requires a format that preserves layout,
such as PDF. Unless the OP wants to do sensitive editing, which from the
request for a convertor, he/she does not want to do. Sensitive editing
would almost completely eliminate the requirement for a convertor - it would
more be starting from scratch using your existing set of content. In a
suitable application.

GRANTED.

But, once again, the poster *did* reference Word. Personally, in cases such
as this (especially where intent is not 100% clear) I think it's best to
cover a wide range of options. You'll note I did so.

They referenced Word, because they didn't know any better - Word is *NOT*
suitable as Ed and I have stated (maybe one day we might just hammer this
into your thick skull! Though it would take a hammer the size of Thor's no
doubt).

In this instance, PDF is the best - and, IMNSHO only, choice.

Good luck. Your hammer isn't effective.

I will continue to offer users diverse options, especially when their posts
are ambiguous or wrought of incomplete information. And as lofty as you may
find your own little not-so-humble opinion to be, it's a tiny speck amongst
the 6 billion-plus opinions floating around. Get used to it.

You'll note I referenced PDFs. That was just to make you happy, sweetie.

But they should have been at the top of the list

That's just an opinion. ; )

Intent and usage are EVERYTHING. Without knowing them, best you can do is
punt.

Not a thing wrong with mht, in my opinion.

<tic>But don't bring it up anymore: some folks here get downright rude when
you mention file saving options.</tic>
