publisher 03 vs. 02

Donna Williams

Let me just say that I have been a die-hard Mac person for 10+ years, but
recently had to set up a template for a client in Publisher 2003 on a PC, and
was pretty surprised that the application was not as bad as I anticipated it
would be. But now, I have a bit of dilemma.

I purchased the most recent version of Publisher (2003) to do this project,
and my client is running several machines with Publisher 2002. When I set
the first set of files to them, all appeared ok, except for a few instances of
photos not appearing on pages. We assummed it was a memory issue, or
layered tiffs, so we re-saved and sent the files off. Now, as the client is
getting more into the files, they've realized that 2002 doesn't support
master pages, etc.

I'm trying to help pro-actively to eliminate any further issues, I have quite a
few more files that I need to send out, and would like to fix the future files.
Are there any more specific issues that they will run in to , or anything to do
on my end to eliminate further issues? Please advise... Thanks!

The above link will show you many of the differences.

You will find that not only master pages will not be supported, but the
Catalog Merge is not available in Publisher 2002. But they both do share the
same Mail Merge. Publisher 2002 doesn't support composite CMYK output
either.

Hi Mary Sauer ([email protected]),
in the newsgroups
you posted:

|| 2002 does support Master Pages. There is little difference between

|| service pack?

His issue might be multiple master pages, which is Publisher 2003 only.
