Publisher 2000 always ask for Disc 2

Geoff

Running Windows XP Home Edition.

Publisher 2000 SR-1 will always ask for Disc 2 when I try to start Publisher
or click on a document to open it in Publisher.

Office 2000 has been completely uninstalled. The Microsoft Installer Clean
Up utility was run and then Office reinstalled. In particular, during the
reinstallation of Publisher from Disc 2 I specified that it install all
clipart etc on the hard drive.

In all other respects the computer and other Office 2000 programs run just
fine. Does anybody know the cause and solution??

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the reply and suggestion Mary, I'll give it a try.

Also thanks to Don. I have already been to Office Update and applied the
recommended updates. However, I'll check it again just to be sure I got the
Security patch as well.

Well, I tried Mary's suggestion today, all three steps in the KB article in
sequence, including installing Microsoft Access which hadn't been previously
installed. Unfortunately the problem persists.

Publisher still runs the installer when it's started and asks for Disc 2,
each and every time. None of the other Office components have this problem.

I guess the next step is another uninstall, run the Installer Clean Up
again, clean out the registry, and try another install.

Unless somebody has another idea?

Thanks for your help so far,
Geoff

Hi John;

I've just read the KB article and it's looks promising. With any luck I'll
be able to return to the problem computer tomorrow and give it a try.

In any case, once I've tried the fix I will post the result.

Thanks,
Geoff

Yes, please let us know the result.

John, thanks very much for your suggestion. Renaming the Pub60cor.mmc file
and restarting Publisher instantly fixed the problem.

I've been fighting this off and on for days.
