Publisher 2000 Catalogue Not Working

R

Rob

I have an issue here with one of my 2 machines. Both
are running Office XP Professional and Publisher 2000. The
only difference between the 2 is that one is a Windows XP
Home and the other is a Win 98. The Win 98 machine works
fine with this config, but on the XP Home machine the
catalog will not work when I chose a new publication. I
have installed all of the latest Service Packs and Service
releases and even did the Detect and Repair as noted here
within this newsgroup, but still the catalog does not
appear. To clear this problem, I have to hit the ESC
button and that stops the opening of the process. I have
even tried uninstalling Publisher 2000 and installing
Publisher 98 and the 98 works fine. I then uninstall the
98 and reinstall the 2000 and still the same results.

It's almost like a DLL may have been changed, but I am not
sure which one.. Any ideas??

Thanks. I did see this previously, however, it's not a
question of the catalog appearing wrong, it's the fact
that the program freezes and does not even work. I
actually followed this tech note previously before writing
the original note.

So, I am still open to ideas here..

Thanks

Rob, does the catalogue work when running in SAFE MODE?

Hi Brian..

I just tried it in Safe Mode.. and yes.. it did work and
now when I try it in "normal mode" the catalogue now
works.. what's up with that?

In looking at the other part of this... the Design Gallery
Object button still does the same... nothing.. so I will
try that in Safe Mode too.. is it an initializing problem
or conflict that can only be resolved in Safe Mode first
then it will work fine in Normal mode?

Hi Brian..

Now that I have fully used all (well.. most of them.. )
of the features in Safe Mode, when I return to "normal
Mode", the program now works like a charm. Is this a new
or a known caveat with this configuration? Regardless,
thanks for your assistance and suggestion for helping me
get this working again.
