Publisher 2002 can't see my network printer

Am on a Dell desktop (new last year) running XP. Purchased
Publisher 2002 separately. Cannot get the program to find
my network printer from printer icon. Also get error
message from file--print. Printer has its own ip adddress
on my lab network. HP 2250C business inkjet. Will print to
my other HP1600 just fine. Any ideas?

Is the printer set up within Windows?
Have you tried mapping the printer to a local port?
