Publisher 2002 - large file size

I am using Microsoft Publisher 2002 and Word 2002. I have pictures with
names under them set up in tables in Word 2002. When I insert object into
Publisher (using as link), the file size goes way, way up. What am I
overlooking?
Thanks,
Kory

Situation normal.

However, you may have scanned the pictures at more than 150dpi, or you are
reducing the pictures instead of changing the proportions in a proper
picture program.

There are over 300 photos in the database and about 5 different "sizes" the
photographer used. I can use IrFanview and do a "batch" resizing. Since
there are several different sizes, would it help reduce the Publisher file
size if I do a 50% reduction on all of them?
Thanks,
Kory

Sure it would - normally dramatically, but because of a major bug in
Publisher 2002 that was not fixed, you will have to start off with a brand
new file. In Publisher 2002 once you place a picture and then delete it,
the picture still remains behind in the Publisher file and cannot be
removed.
Only way to overcome that major bug is to upgrade to Publisher 2003.

Thanks for the info. I just got Publisher 2002 a few months ago on a new
computer, but guess I will have to break down and upgrade to v2003.
Thanks again,
Kory
