Publisher 2002

A friend uses Publisher 2002 with XP.
Unlike my 2000 version he cannot import .mix files generated using Photodraw.
How can he correct this 'fault'?

I'd bet good money that you don't have the 2000 version of Publisher (a.k.a.
Publisher 2000), but rather PictureIt! Publishing, or possibly Home
Publishing. Neither of these products is Microsoft Publisher.

Hmmm, I have Publisher 2000, 2002 and
2003 installed and have no problem inserting
..mix files in all versions.

My .mix files are from Picture It. .mix files
from PhotoDraw may react differently.

Tell me about it. I've been trying to open a .mix file for another MVP. I've
tried PI!2000 and 2002 and they can't do it. Publisher can't insert them.
I'd love to be able to open this file and save it as a .jpg for him but I
can't. It's been quite frustrating.

Is the file from PhotoDraw or PictureIt?

As I understand it...PhotoDraw files must
be opened in PhotoDraw and saved in
a different format.

You are welcome to send the file to me,
but I probably cannot open it either.

PhotoDraw - and I don't have that. Do you?

Nope, I don't. So I cannot open the file either.

I wonder if someone in the PhotoDraw ng would
give it a try?

I don't know anyone over there and I'd rather not impose on a complete
stranger. :)

I thought I could to but found I was wrong. On its way.

I don't have PhotoDraw either, but Brian does :)

Yes it can but that is only half of the answer but one that I shall remember
next time.

I do have Publisher 2000 or so the information detail says. It came with
Office 2000 Professional.

I suspect that Photodraw is Picture it! renamed and updated and rebadged.
That you have no problem with .mix with Picture it installed suggests that
if such a programme is installed then 2000 and 2002 will behave properly. See
my other response on this aspect.

Thanks

Since posting my question I found on the programme help that 2000 will only
import .mix if Photdraw is also installed. Does this apply to 2002? I guess
that it may.

I believe that the problem is now resolved. I have Photodraw 2000 installed
and as the Help in Publisher 2000 says it will import .mix if Picture it
(presumably aka Photodraw) is installed. On my machine it is and it does
import .mix. My friend does not have Photodraw installed and it won't.

Many thanks to you all for your assistance.
Perhaps Microsoft will ensure that there is interchangeability between its
own programmes at some stage. I do hope so.
