Publisher 2003 and pdf file problem

L

Larry

I am having trouble printing a Publisher 2003 file in pdf format.

The file has linked images that are CMYK.

In the print dialogue box, when I click on the "Advanced Print Settings"
button, the "Separations" dialogue box appears. I select under "Ouput" the
choice "Composite CMYK."

When I go to print the file in distiller, the "Save PDF File As" dialog box is
never displayed. The file seems to be processing, but never displays a pdf
file and I cannot find a pdf file that is created.

In contrast, if in the print dialogue box, I click on the "Advanced Print
Settings" button and when the "Separations" dialogue box appears I select
under "Ouput" the choice "Composite RGB" I can easily create a pdf file.

Why do I have a problem creating a pdf file in composite CMYK? (I need CMYK
because this is going to an offset press)

Thanks for your help.
Larry

Be sure to download the new Service Pack that was released yesterday for
Publisher that addresses a similar issue and see if that fixes your problem:

Also, which PDF printer driver are you using? Be sure it is a PS3

According to MS fixlist the following has been corrected in SP1:

Publisher When you print a publication as color separations or
composite cyan-magenta-yellow-black (CMYK) in Publisher 2003, the
publication may not print and you do not receive an error message

As such, the described problem should be taken care of.
Installed SP1 last night, but havent tested yet!

Thanks for this very helpful information. Where do I find the info on the
printer driver and if I do not have PS3, how do I download it.

Thanks

You are most welcome.
And after all, you helped me with this problem back in January (was'nt it?).
