Publisher will not overwrite Word. If you had Word before installing Publisher,
you should still have Word. Are you certain the Word program wasn't a trial or
maybe a part of Works.

I have searched everything I can on my computer and Word is no longer
installed on my machine......it was there until I put Publisher on it and
then it was gone. It was not a trial program, as it has been on there for the
past 2 years. I tried reinstalling the Publisher program and doing a repair
but still no Word.

Publisher would not uninstall Word.
Reinstalling Publisher or doing a repair would not RESTORE Word even if it
did uniinstall it.

HOW are you looking for Word?

I went thru my list of programs installed, also all of my Word docs that were
previously on my computer have all been changed to WordPad docs? I am not the
most computer progamming literate person, and maybe am missing some simple
thing?

Just as an experiment...try the following...

Go to...Start / Run...

Type (or copy/paste): winword.exe

Press...Enter.

Might be worth a try to do a system restore
to a time before Word disappeared.
