Working on a document when flag came up saying problem encountered publisher
must close down. I did not use send option because this often happens and it
closes down and I just open up again. However this time it closed down and
now it says Publisher cannot open file.

How can I ressurect this document?

How to troubleshoot a damaged publication in Publisher

Error message when you try to open a publication in Publisher: "Publisher cannot
open the file" or "Publisher has detected a problem"

I'd look for some other reasons. If this happens often, do a detect and repair.
Check your drivers to see if they are current. Look at Outlook too.

Anytime you can re-open a publication that has shut down, it is time to do a
*save as* another name. Open the Design Checker to see what is going on.

Thanks to another post on here, I managed to find a temp file and created a resurrection. However, with further delving I found that MS told me I had only a demo program (untrue) and I hadn't used it since 2005 (untrue) so where that came from I don't know. Anyway, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled my genuine program and it looks like that has solved the problem.

Thank you for your time and trouble.
