Publisher 2007/Ribbon

Aggie

I installed Office 2007, the package which included Publisher, PP, Word,
Excel, etc. For some reason, the new ribbon is NOT on publisher but it is on
all the others. I've gotten used to the ribbon and would like it on but
cannot figure out what happened. It is 2007 as opposed to 2003. Any help from
out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, thank you; however, why wouldn't it be consistent throughout? When I
went through the online training, I thought it was all 2007. After reading
the reply, I did go back and VOILA!, it was in fact 2003 training. Anyway,
appreciate the help--next time I'll post before spending an hour trying to
find the answer! Thanks much.

It's not part of Publisher. We still use the "old" interface.

They (the fine folks at MS) focused on the programs that are most widely
used. Publisher isn't one of those.

I notice there is some concern about no Ribbon for Publisher. My first
reaction was: is Publisher the redheaded stepchild - no ribbon? The I tried
Word and found that I could not customize the ribbon, making it frequently
necessary to use 2 or 3 extra clicks to use the command I want. That may not
sound like a big issue, but in complicated formating this adds up to extra
time and more frustration. Leave Publisher alone unless the ribbon can be
customized - it looks good, but if it makes more work the old toolbars are
just fine.

It's big enough for someone to have written an add-in to allow it:
http://pschmid.net/office2007/ribboncustomizer/index.php

(If and when Publisher gets the ribbon, I'm sure Patrick will release a
version that works with Publisher too.)
