Publishing site

I am trying to follow the directions for publishing my site to the web;
however, when I type in my URL, I get a message that there are illegal
characters or my file name is too long.

I've contacted my web hosting service and they tell me it's a Microsoft
problem.

Can anyone tell me the proper steps for publishing a newly created website
to the web? Please be precise as I'm new to this stuff.

illegal charachters usually means ILLEGAL Charachters.

That is any thing but Alpha, numbers and very little else.
Space is illegal in most anything but windoze and / \< > and many others are
illegal.as well.
Stick to plain alpfa unless you know better.

Reference: Prepare, publish, and maintain your Publisher Web site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA100947601033.aspx
It is written for Pub 2007, but if you are using IE7 instead of IE6, then
the directions for using Vista also would apply to Pub 2003. FTP and HTTP
uploading has changed with the introduction of IE7 and Vista.

If you have more questions about Publisher webs, then post in the web group
and we will try to help you there:

Please include the version of Publisher you are using and which OS and which
version of IE.
