You know the worst part of it?

The base code to read MSP files is included in MS
Quickview (installed by default on most Windows Flavors)!!!

I realised that even without Publisher installed on my
Win2000 computer, if I renamed a .pub file to .doc, the
QuickView engine would be able to decode the file and show
me a thumbnail version of it. I need to rename the file
because QuickView won't even try o decode it otherwise
since it doesn't recognize the .pub extension.

So... The are no MSP viewers but any average coder could
write one that uses QuickView's engine.

Damn dumb Micro$oft.

Exactly, it is just pig headed of Microsoft not to make a Publisher viewer
and printer like they have for the rest of the Office suite.

Within the Publisher program to view the files before opening indicates
there is a full viewer in the program.

The only reason for MS not supplying a Publisher viewer, is that they must
be levering and gouging money somehow from customers by not having one. Now
they will say it is no longer an issue with Publisher 2003 having PDF built
in, which is correct.

You must have been confusing it with the very much enhanced PostScript
Export facilities

Na, have a tweak which detects when PS files are spooled and immediately
converts them to PDF in Distiller no intervention no see nothing.

PDF was so extensively talked about being included in Publisher 2003 I just
took it for granted it was built in. Only God and Mohammed would no why it
was not built in. Would have added at best $US2.00 per program produced.
