Question about Project Server 2007

Our company is looking for a solution to manage projects more efficiently. We
currently use Project 2007.

I've heard somewhere that you can only "check out" Project files, e.g. only
one user at a time can access the project. But we need to be able to all
access and share a project at one time, to view which tasks are assign to
who, etc. without having to wait for someone else to finish using it.

In my research this seems to be the way Project Server 2007 works, but I
just wanted to confirm with someone who is familiar with it.

Thanks in advance

Philip

Phil:

Only one person can update the project at one time, however everyone can
view it by opening read-only or by viewing it on the web. Resources can be
actively updating their assignments regardless of whether the plan is open
or not as these updates are queued in the system and only reach the plan
upon PM approval. I hope this helps a little.
