Question about tasks splitting.

I have a schedule that has been handed off to me that contains a
bunch
of messy data. The issue I have is that there are many tasks that
have started a long time ago but are still open and their remaining
efforts are being driven by other non started or split tasks. The
splitted tasks will reschedule if the predecessor slips out to the
right but they will not move back to the left if the predecessor
moves
to the left. The remaining duration stays out to the right till I
have to grab the bar and drag it to the left till the predecessor
constrains it from moving. Now this happens most of the time but I
have seen some split tasks move automatically left and right. Do I
have a setting on the line that is making these tasks not move? Also
there is no resources loaded into the schedule.

Hello Bigfish,
I don't have any real explanation, but it seems that this behavior depends
on the Stop date and Resume date (insert these 2 fields in any table)
Generally the Stop date is at the end of the progress bar. But after several
back and forth on the split task, the Stop date shifts to the next segment
of the task, and the remaining can't go leftward anymore.
