Question on Layers

Melissa

I recently started using the layers feature in FP 03, and I noticed that
if my screen resolution isn't the same as when I designed it, the page
is all off kilter. Is there a way so that no matter what resolution you
are viewing the page at it will look the same?

Any help would be appreciated.

Layers (absolutely positioned <div> tags) are absolutely positioned on the
screen. No matter how wide/high you make your browser viewport (see, it
really has nothing to do with resolution), the layer will stay where it was
positioned. However, any other elements that are percent sized, or are
aligned to center, will always move to find a new width/center position as
the browser's viewport width is adjusted. This is the motion you are
seeing.

There are several solutions -

1. Don't use flexible/centering elements on a page with layers, or
2. Don't use layers on a page with flexible/centering elements, or
3. Use other tools to make the layers move along with the other content

Each of these is a viable option, although the first two may be the better
ones for you now, since the third option requires a bit of CSS knowledge -
it's simple enough, though. Perhaps you could show me your page so that I
could make an optimal suggestion?

Murray,
I am having this same problem at www.southcentralsjhr.org. I am very very
new to website design, and would appreciate any help you could offer. I
really want the the two logos on either side of the centered text, but am to
the point that I am going to just do away with the logo altogether. I have
read in this group several posts regarding this problem, but get totally lost
when reading the solutions, as they are very technical.

Thanks you in advance for your help.

Insert a table with 3 columns, place the logo in the left and right columns/cells and your text in
the middle column.
