Quotations

I scan a document to Word and Save As in a folder in My Documents.

Days/months later I am writing a letter on Word and want to quote a passage
from the scanned document in my letter, but I cannot highlight the passage
to copy and paste.

Is there a way of highlighting part of a scanned document to be able to copy
and paste?

What you are essentially doing is scanning as a picture.. to be able to copy
and paste from a scanned document, you have to use 'text recognition'
scanning software, e.g TextBridge.. you scanner was probably supplied with
something like it..

As Mike said, a scanned document is really a picture not
highightable text.

Besides text recognition software, another thing you could
do is use an image editing program like PhotoEd or Paint to
copy a section of the picture containing the text you want
to quote into another picture file and then insert that
picture into your document. I've done a similar thing with
signatures many times.
