re-format existing table with quick table?

Feedback about Word).

Perhaps you & Michel are communicating on a level that transcends the
written message & is beyond my comprehension , but based on the original
question you might try:

Click in the Table, go to Table> Select> Table

In the Elements Gallery click the QuickTable style you want to apply

Unless I'm completely missing the intent of your request that should do what
you want - although results may vary depending on content of the table as
well as any merged cells, etc. Otherwise it works for me.

If I'm transcending, I'm unaware of it. ;-)

I tried what you suggest. Word then inserted a new, blank table in place of the old table.

OK - My error, I was going from memory & not thinking about the content
replacement issue :-} See if this works better:

Rather than selecting the Table, start at the beginning of the content in
the first cell then either Shift+Click or Drag to the end of the content in
the last cell. Don't go too far because you just want to select the content,
not including the end of row marker at the end of the last row.

Cut or copy the content, then click the QT you want to replace the original.

Click in the first cell of the new table, Paste.

You may still have some touching up to do but it may be what you need.
