Re-installation of Office

I had to reinstall Windows XP on my machine due to technical difficulties and
viruses. I had a version of MS Office on the machine previous to the
reinstallation of XP. I can no longer access any of the MS Office programs.
I see the files and shortcut icons in the folders in my "C" drive, but it is
telling me to reinstall MS Office. I also can no longer locate my MS Office
Installation CD. If I have the files, shouldn't I be able to reinstall the
applications? Can someone tell me how?

Are you using a "borrowed" copy of Office? No, you can't
reinstall without the CD because the setup program writes dozens
of entries to the Windows registry.

The CD's contain the setup program and the instructions to install the
pointers and necessary information and data in the registry. So, no CD,
no installation. All you have are files, all the instructions as to what
the operating system should do with them is gone. You wiped it out when
you reinstalled the operating system. YOU NEED the CD.

I had MS Office on the machine when I bought it, but I can't find the disk
for Office. I see all the files in the folders on my C drive for MS Office,
but I can't open any of the applications.

You NEED THE CD. No IFS, no ANDS, no BUTS.
