Really need help with equation editor

When I insert an equation and try to use any of the options in the structures
menu Word crashes. Can anyone help me to stop this?
I'm using word 2007 on vista home premium.
I would really appreciate any help.

Have you tried repairing the installation? Click the Office button, and then
click Word Options. In the Resources category, click the Diagnose button and
follow the instructions.
