receive emails immediately when someone sends to me

I have searched everywhere for instructions on how to set
up Outlook to receive emails immediately after someone
sends them to me. I work right next to my buddy and he
always get's emails when I send it to him. When he sends
me an email I have to wait for outlook to schedule
a "send/receive" before I actually get it. I have changed
several settings trying to figure this out but none have
worked. Does anyone know the secret on how to make this
work?

Goto tools/options/mail setup/send recieve and change it to one minute or
what ever time frame you choose to use. Kep i mind you will only get
notification if outlook is running

I figured it out...finally. So just in case someone has
the same problem:
I was having my email saved to my computer instead of
leaving it on the server. Evidently, I can't receive e-
mail automatically and have my email saved to my computer
at the same time. Oh well, I guess I'm stuck with one or
the other
