Recover or view tracked changes

I have been working on a document with track changes on in Word XP. I set
the display to "final" and entered some changes, but when I set it back to
"final with markup" my previous changes have all disappeared, with only the
most recent showing up. Is there a way to recover these changes? Or, are
they still there and there is somthing that I need to do to view them?
