Recovering drafts when Word crashes

Hi -- I'm using Word as my email editor. I had a long
draft email open when Word crashed. Unlike the Word
documents which were recoverable through the Auto-Recovery
feature, I can't see to recover those draft emails. I had
been saving the drafts, and they appear in my Outlook
drafts folder. However, when I double-click on them to
open them up, I get the following message: "Can't open
this item."

Any thoughts??!!
