reduce file size in Publisher

I create our newsletter (usually 12-18 pages) in Publisher for printing. I
then convert it to a PDF file with Primo PDF and send it to our website guy,
who then puts it onto our site in PDF format. I use text boxes and graphics
(including clip art, photos, and WordArt). How can I reduce the size of the
"Publisher for print" document, either on creation or when converting to PDF?
I tried saving the "for print" document in the web page format, but I lost
all my text wrapping. It did make a 3761 kb reduction in size, but I want to
keep the original layout.

Chris,

Which version of PrimoPDF are you using? I noticed recently that there is a
new version 2 that not only has a lot more features, but also reduces the
file size of the PDF significantly more than the original version. It now
offers output for Screen, Print, EBook, and Prepress. I found that it
reduced a 12 meg publisher file to 629 kb if I used the Print output, and
just 124 kb if I used the Screen output. Here is the link:

I just downloaded PrimoPDF last week, so I think I probably have the newest
version (I'll check when I get to work Monday). I will try to recreate what I
did and see if I used the screen output. It was the first time I tried it,
and I can't remember what exactly I did. Thank you for your reply . . . I
will try screen output on the next issue.

I think the default is Print, so perhaps you will get a smaller file size
using Screen for your output.

If that doesn't help significantly, you can always go back and reduce the
dpi of the inserted images...good luck.
