Is it a must to be running Windows XP to use the RPC over HTTP feture?
Will it work with 2000Pro?
Are there any workarounds?

I think it's a requirement. Otherwise you'd have to use something like
Outlook Web Access.

There are no workarounds that I know of - you need winxp.
