Renaming web problems

B

Bob Richardson

In my first week with Front Page 2003, those monkey-on-the-keyboard days, I
created a web. Then I deleted the files of that web. I doubt that I deleted
the web from Front Page. I now want to rename a web but can't. When I try
to rename with the name I want, the error message says that site is "already
in use." If it is still in use, it's certainly invisible. What's the
solution?

The solution is to always use Frontpage to manage your Webs.
The cure: Use Windows Explorer to recreate the folder you originally
deleted.
Open the web and choose to Publish it to this folder (you can't rename
it) after you have checked that the publish succeeded you can use
Frontpage to delete the now obsolete web.
