Problem editing web site, FP USer ID and password box no longer ap

Jerry

I have been editing our web site for 8 years with Microsoft Front Page. Now
the user ID and password box no longer appears and I can't edit anything. Our
web server said the FP extensions ae no longer in use and we have to "use the
FTP option" With numerous efforts, I have been unable to add FP extensions or
download FTP publishing. I need to be able to edit the web site. Any
suggestions?

well - no help from me.
Excat same thing happened to me a weeks ago and I found no help here
for it. But you might look at mine a few pages back as some of the
suggestions they made for me might work for you.
Good Luck!

Thanks for you suggestion, I will check them out. However, I am already paid
to my current server thru next April. I am not sure whether my server just
stopped supporting FP or if Microsoft has once again created a situation
where you have to buy upgrades from them or replace there programs with new
ones.

If the hosting company stopped supporting the FrontPage Server Extensions
after you renewed your hosting, you should be able to get some money back -
they can't change the rules after the game starts.

In addition, using FTP would crash the FP extensions anyhow.

Plus, he needs to get the proper credentials and FTP path from the host.

Are you able to try it on another computer/install of FrontPage?
I have the very same problem on my computer and had the Server Side un/
reinstall the FrontPage Extensions - which made no difference at all.
But, I am able to log in and edit my website from another computer
with no problems at all: So it must be my computer/FrontPage and not
the server.

I wonder if this might be a clue?
Yesterday I went to do a few things on my d-link WiFi router and
instead of it bringing up the dialog box to enter Username/Password
all it wil tell me now is that I'm not Authorized."
I have IE8 which is Very Buggy! and XP Pro SP3.
I wonder if there was either an IE 8 update or XP Pro Update?
I have turned off my firewall and Anti-Virus and Anti-Maleware and
that made no difference for logging into my FrontPage site.
Any Help??
