repeating text characters halt

When holding a key down in Word to repeat that letter/#, the action
stops/halts before I want it to. I have to release, re-press that same key to
continue replicating that keys character. I have XP PRO, Off 2003, nVidia
GeForce 6600 [new] card with 256, MB of memory and 3.2 GHz processor . I also
increased my swap files to 800 MB due to this same halting happening in a
game while moving about the screen.
I'll say thanks in advance for any help any one can give me.

Aw, c'mon. You've posted twice here and at least once in at least one of the
Word newsgroups. And Word MVP Terry Farrell has already answered you in the
Word newusers newsgroup.

thanks for the heads up. Your's is the only response I've seen though. Sorry
for the annoyance. I'm learning how to use the group albeit slowly

No worries. I see you found Terry's response in word.newusers.

Sorry to seem grumpy about the multiposts, but often people just keep
posting the same question over and over to various groups -- and they never
seem to come back for the response.

I'm glad you were able to get started toward a solution, though.
