Repeating a key- action halting

how do I re-configure being able to hold down a key, have it repeat until I
release that key? I have Off 2003 on my 2002 Pro box. While playing a game
[I'm new at "gaming"] and while moving in any direction for about 5-8 seconds
I have to release then depress the key to continue. The same happens when
repeating a key in Word; hold "A" down and it stops, then release and depress
to continue. Very frustrating on the game side. I'm suspecting these two may
tie in together.
BTW: I increased my page file capacity to the limit of my memory, 512. I
have 256 of memory of onbard on my nVidia 6600 video card
In advance, thanks for the help.

It's likely the function of the operating system trying to deal with
what appears to it to be a stuck key or operator with a handicap. Please
see Accessibility Options in Start, Programs. Any further questions
should be posted to the group for the operating system as this is not an
MS Office application issue.

Thanks Bob - I'm learning my way, slowly with this resource. I'll try the
accessibility and that's a more politically correct way of saying ID 10 T,
the operator & handicap.
Thanks for the advice as well
