Report not sorting

In two of my reports, the ones where RunningSum is used, Sorting of
(other) field does not work.

Not sure, but looks like RunningSum takes precedence, it is not
applied after sorting.

Does this make sense? If yes, can I have some advise, please?

How are you trying to do the sorting?

In a report, the sort order of the query used as the recordsource is
irrelevant: you just use the Sorting and Grouping dialog.

I thought the sorting was done before, within the SQL process! This is
very puzzling.

Glad you got it working.

Reports have always required that you use the Sorting and Grouping dialog in
all versions of Access.

Sounds like you were just lucky in the past.

Sounds like you were just lucky in the past.

I've been investigating and looks like initial data filled in database
was copied from Excel where everything was already sorted. As soon as
Excel processing was abandoned problems arose.
