Resolving overallocations

I just could not seem to resolve all my overallocations so I cleared a
few things and am going to start from scrath. I have my tasks, I have
my durations, I have my resources. All resources are on a standard
calendar. All priorities have been reset to 500. All dependencies have
been cleared. All resources are available 40 hours a week. No tasks
have a "must start on" or must finish on" dependency, tey are all start
as soon as possible. So, when I level all of my resources, I still get
some people allocated with wayove 40 hours a week! How can I level
this plan so a person works 40 hours a week and anything over that gets
pushed to the next week?
thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "all dependencies have been cleared". If
you mean you removed them, that would be a problem. They need to be
there for Resource Leveling to have any meaning. Otherwise, it will
schedule "Paint" before "Put up drywall".

Hope this helps in your world.

Try the following settings.

1. Tools -> Level Resources

Select the Radio Button "Automatic"
Set Look for over allocations on a "minute by minute basis"
Check the box " clear leveling values before leveling"
Select the radio button " level the entire project"
Set the leveling order to "Priority, Standard"
Uncheck "Level only within available slack "
Check "Leveling can adjust individual assignments on a task "
Check "Leveling can create splits in remaining work "
Uncheck "Level tasks with proposed resources "

Hope this helps

I know, but if I remove all the dependencies I wassume project would
just take all the task and put them in a serial order of 40 hours a
week since there were no dependencies from one task to another.

Yes it will, definitely, it will, it does.
Send me the file I can see what's going wrong.

I suspect lost af tasks have resources allocated to more than their Max
Units but oine never can be sure.

Thanks all, It was my error. I had resources assigned in the rollup
tasks that were also assigned in the subtasks. All is well now
Thanks
