Resource Group

I want a report of Resource dollars by Group. e.g. we have External
Resources and Internal resources. My boss wants a report (or burn rate) by
External and Internal. I can use a VIEW to show that information, but need
to copy/paste into Excel to get the totals for each phase of the project. Is
there an easier way?

Hi Joel,

A couple of assumptions:

1. You have used the Group field on the Resource sheet and entered
"Internal" or "External" as needed for the resources.
2. You have assigned resources to tasks

You could create a custom Group to group and summarize the data from the
Cost table.

To create the custom Group:
Project > Group by > More Groups
Click the New button.
Give the custom group a name.
In the first row of the Group Definition dialog box select the Field
Name "Resource Group"
Field Type: Task
Order: Ascending or Descending as you prefer.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Another idea that may work is to set the groups and filter for each group.
On the toolbars open the Analyze toolbar and you will get a button for
analyze timescale data in excel. Highlight the lines you want to analyze and
follow the wizard the pops up. If you get the right settings you are looking
for it will come up in excel as a graph. If the graph is not what you want,
you can use the data and create another chart to show what you want.
