Resource Hours vs Duration Time

How do I override the resource hours that has a duration longer than resource
hours.

i.e.
Duration = Start-5/1/09, End 5/25/08
Resource Hours = 30

Basically indicating that a person only needs 30 hours to complete a task
but duration is set for a much longer time to account for waiting for
responses from 3rd party vendor.

Make sure that the task type is fixed work and then either drag out the
length of the bar on the Gantt chart or change the duration in the
duration column.

Try changing the task type to "Fixed Work" then reset your duration to
whatever it needs to be.
