resource leveling with recurring tasks

T

TN

I have created a project plan with some recurring tasks, when I add other
tasks during the same day & do resource leveling, it workes fine when there
are no recurring tasks, MS Project is ignoring recurring tasks while
leveling. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Hi TN,

When you use the resource leveling command Project looks at a number of
factors to decide which task(s) should be delayed.
The list of criteria from Help:
============================
Available slack.
Task duration.
Task's constraints.
Task ID.
Task priority.
Task dependencies.
Scheduling dates.
=============================
Because recurring tasks are constrained, Project is less likely to delay
them over a task without constraints. If you wish to delay a recurring task
over non-recurring tasks, consider changing the task priorities (Double click
on the task and on the General tab increase/decrease the number) and then
set the leveling calculation in the Resource Leveling dialog box to Priority,
Standard. This re-orders the criteria weighting to look at Priority first.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi,

Recurring tasks, when created, get 1000 as priority hence they are ignored
by leveling.
Open the "recurring task" ands reset the priority of the detail tasks to
f.i. 500
