Resource Pool and slow response time

I have a MS Access application that interfaces with MS Project and utilizes
the MS Project Resource Pool. Currently there are roughly 600 resources in
the pool and the MS Resource Pool now has a size of 59 MB.

Recently the project plans that are linked to the Resource Pool are opening
slowly. What would cause this slow resonse? Is there a way to "compact" the
resource pool to make it respond quicker?

Any one else run into this issue?
