Resource pool + customers + subcontractors

Erkki

We are using enterprise resource pool for our company's
resources. The next step is managing the resources of
customer's personnel and subcontractors. We intend to use
master projects (I know - do not publish them to server).
Here I encountered a 'funny' feature :
- local resources are shown multiple times due to the fact
that they are in each single project
- the individual projects reside on the server side and
only enterprise resource pool can be used (no sharer file
for the locals e.g)

I would appreciate a hint to the right direction in
managing the local folk's :)

Thanks !

Erkki:

Now you've encountered one of the problems with using local resources. IMO,
local resources should be avoided in an Enterprise environment when
possible. If you're using the same resource over and over again in various
projects, why not make it a part of the Enterprise Resource Pool? This type
of usage indicates that this would be the appropriate approach.

When you do use local resources that are not going to report through Project
Web Access, you should set their workgroup value to "none" before publishing
to the server.
