Hi, All:
I have an example project for some writing I'm doing with the 24 Hours
calendar assigned as base calendar, for an example 20-hour project starting
at 6 a.m with 20 hour work day (set on the Schedule Tab in Options db). I
created two additional calendars, one for the first 10 hours (EARLY) and one
for the second 10 hours (LATE). In the Resource Sheet, I used the Base
Calendar field to assign the EARLY calendar to some resources and the LATE
calendar to others.
In my example, one of the folks on the EARLY calendar needs to stay an extra
hour to "hand off" a task to a colleague on the later shift. So, I
double-clicked the resource in Resource Sheet, clicked Change Working Time,
and set up an Exception to reflect the extra hour. (This is the method
described in the help topics with fixes on instances when a resource's
calendar appears to be being ignored.)
All tasks in the example have been linked in sequence and changed to the
Fixed Duration task type, with three of the tasks also having effort-driven
scheduline removed, including the task that's in question.
The task in question is a 2.5h task (Fixed Duration, no effort-driven
scheduling) that spans the time transitioning from the early calendar to the
late one, starting 1.5 hours before my resource with the exception ends his
early shift with the extra hour added by the exception. I assign that
resource first, and the task remains at 2.5h, with the resource assigned
1.5h per its calendar. I assign as second resource with the LATE calendar,
and it is assigned 2h of work (as consistent with the later start), and
again no change to the task duration or schedule.
The results in the above paragraph are what I would expect, but here's the
rub. When the person testing the file assigned the first resource with the
exception, the task's duration changed to 1.5h to match the resource
calendar, even though he sent me the file back and the task is clearly set
to Fixed Duration with effort-driven scheduling turned off.
I am rather stumped, and have been through settings in both files with a
fine-toothed comb, and I can't come up with anything. Any ideas? I did not
assign a task calendar.
TIA!
