Resource Usage Data showing incorrectly for un-opened projects

Why is it that when looking at the Resource Usage view
using MSP Pro 2003 - if you do not have the project plan
open the data that shows up for assigned work isn't
always correct? For example I have project 1 open, but
the resource is also assigned to project 2. Under the
project 2 heading the work assigned shows 6 when it is
actually 2.5?? Only when I actually open both project 1
and 2 do the numbers show up correctly. We were told this
is a known bug? Is there a hot fix for this?

This makes if very difficult for our managers to level
their resources. Thanks!

Leveling only works on projects that are open, so I would recommend your
managers open any projects to which their resources are assigned before
their analyze their resource overallocation problems. Hope this helps.

Well, the normal thought process would be if they have to
have ALL project open the Resource Usage sheet shouldn't
show any data for projects that are not open. This isn't
very intuitive and causes TONS of confusion.

Microsoft changed how the Resource Usage view works in an enterprise
environment as opposed to a standalone environment. I personally believe
that the changes to the Resource Usage view are very useful, especially when
determining resource availability during the resource assignment process
with a new project. They are also useful for resource leveling, but you
need to have projects open to level them. I'm sorry this isn't intuitive to
you. Hope this helps.
