Resource Usage Question

Hi
My project is effort driven with fixed units. With the Task Sheet window split and the Resource Usage window open on the bottom part of the screen, I am wondering if I can manually edit or move hours for each resource without affecting automatic scheduling from the resource allocation

I use the default split window for editing the work when multiple resources are allocated to a task and this does not seem to affect the automatic scheduling. Is there a problem editing the work this way
