Resources vs tasks tracking

The standard Gantt chart shows the tasks and associated resource over the
specified duration.

I'd like to be able to see a gantt chart showing the resources and their
associated tasks over time. It would show how the resource is used for the
time period

Thx

The best project can do for you is the Resource Usage View. On the menu
View/Resource Usage...
What you will see is a listing of each resource. Subodinate to that will be
each task assigned to that resource. On the right side will be a calendar.
However, no Gantt bars are available --- instead there are columns of numbers
representing hours for the time periods specified.

The best way I found is the use of the Report / Assignments / Whos Does What
When...my only problem is I can not export the report into Excel or other
file. I can only print it.

Yes, the reporting features of Project2003 and less are not robust. Project
2007 does have a much better export functionality to Excel.

I thought of one more thing you may want to try. This requires there be only
one resource for each task (which is probably a fatal flaw...)

On the Gantt view, insert a column called Resources. Go to Project/Group
By.../Customize Group By...

Select Groupt by Resource name. You now have a Gantt chart for each
resource combination. However, it does not respect the outline structure of
the schedule.
