Restoring .onepkg files

D

Donato

I have saved a number of notebook files as ".onepkg" files for archiving
purposes whilst using ON2007 trial version. I have recently purchased and
upgraded to the full version. I have tried to restore some of these files by
double clicking on the file with the ".onepkg" extension. Rather than the
usual dialgogue box for opening the notebook, the file attempts to open
itself as "OneNote Table Of Contents.one" at the default directory for ON
files. If I persist, a message comes up telling me that the filed does not
appear to be a ON file. If I continue with the process a further message
tells me that there may be a coverter on the Microsoft Office website.
Is there any workaround for this problem as I need to access some of these
archived files?

Hi Donato,

It sounds like the table of contents file "OneNote Table of
Contents.onetoc2" got renamed to a .one file so opening it as a .one file
doesn't work.

Try opening your .onepkg file again and unpack it to your My
Documents\OneNote Notebooks folder. OneNote should automatically open it
after unpacking.

- If you packaged up a single section, then you should see a new .one file
in My Documents\OneNote Notebooks (the name of the .onepkg file should match
the name of the .one file)

- If you packaged up a notebook, then you should see a new new folder in My
Document\OneNote Notebooks (the name of the folder should match the name of
the .one file)

Hope that helps,
-dave
