Cannot open onepkg file - says it is different version of OneNote.

Hi

I'm trying to open a .onepkg file that was created in OneNote 2007 using
OneNote 2007. However I get an error message when I try opening the file.

First it tries to "Unpack Section" and asks me to specify a name for the
OneNote Section and defaults to "OneNote Table of Contents.one". I click
"Save" and then it says

"This file does not appear to be a OneNote file:

C:\Users\Me\Documents\OneNote Table Of Contents.one

Do you want to try to open it anyway? OneNote may need to repair the file in
order to read it."

I click "Open" and then it says "This file is from a different version of
OneNote. Your version cannot load this file. There may be a converter
available in the Microsoft Office Online Web site that will enable it to do
so."

Then all I can do is click "OK".

Can someone help me with this?

Regards,

Thomas

Any chance that the file was created either with a newer version (SP1) than
you have installed, or with an older (beta) version?
What are the version numbers when you go into Help, About? There might be
two numbers in parenthesis listed there, if SP1 is installed.

Thanks for the reply Patrick.

I am using SP1: 12.0.6211.1000 SP1 MSO 12.0.6213.1000.

The package was created with OneNote 2007 (not beta) and I'm trying to open
the file with SP1.

The newest version I get shown here is SP1 MSO 12.0.6307.5000, but that
probably doesn't matter.

Is there a chance that the onepkg file itself is actually damaged?

I suppose it it possible, but I don't know how it would become damaged. How
can I check it?

I've done a few google searches and I found a thread somewhere where a MS
employee had the same problem, but it looks like the MS guy who replied had a
look at his machine at the office... So no help there.

There's a lot of time invested and really good User Experience data in the
OneNote package so it would be a huge loss if I can't get it open.
