In previous versions of Word, we used to be able to show
only the insertions or deletions when using track
changes. With Word XP it now seems that we only have the
option of showing BOTH deletions and insertions when
using the Review feature. My customers don't want to see
the deletions, only the insertions. Any way to do this?

Hi Mike

Yes, Word XP removed the ability to format deletions (it's back in 2003).
However, you can still set the deleted text to hidden using VBA:

Options.DeletedTextMark = wdDeletedTextMarkHidden

(you need SP1 or later for this to work, as the first release of 2002
disabled wdDeletedTextMarkHidden too!).

You can enter this in the immediate window (Alt F11, Ctrl-G) and it will
stick as the default on your machine. However, this won't affect the way
your customers see your documents if you send them electronically - the
review view is set in the application, not stored in the document.
