Roll up baselines

I'm reading project help. I want to save a baseline for some specific tasks
as my schedule is not complete.It says under 'roll up baselines' I am not
sure exactly what roll up means. It says if I want baseline data for
selected tasks to be rolled up to those tasks' summary tasks' select the 'to
all summary tasks' check box.
What does roll up do?

Roll up means that the data will be shown appropriately at the summary
line level. For example, if the cost (e.g. Baseline Cost) is rolled up,
the sum of all subtask Cost fields will be set at the summary line.

There may be some isolated cases where you do not want baseline data to
rolled up but I think in most cases roll up of baseline data is the most
appropriate choice.
