I need to rotate a photograph inserted into a brochure created in Word, but
all my rotating tools are greyed out and unavailable. HELP!

Inline objects cannot be rotated. Right-click on the picture,
left-click on Format Picture | Layout, and choose something other than
"inline with text" as a text wrapping option.

The formatting is already set for 'no wrapping' and it isn't in-line anyhow.
It's in a box. I created the brochure by modifying one of the templates
offered in the Office 'projects' windows. I am simply replacing one
photograph with another. The photo that's in that spot now did not need to be
rotated, so I didn't have this problem when I created the brochure. The
replacement photo, though, needs to be rotated 90 degrees to the right, and
all my rotating tools are greyed out. I'm mystified. Can anyone help?

If the picture is in a text box, it is inline, since text boxes can contain
only text and inline graphics. Convert the text box to a frame, remove the
frame (or drag the picture out of the text box and delete the text box), and
then set the wrapping on the picture to, say, Square or Tight. You will then
be able to rotate it.

OTOH, since you need to rotate it just 90 degrees, you can use the Format |
Text Direction command to rotate it within the text box.
