Save messages on server

I have a client where He and his wife each have their own computer.
However, they have only the one email address, so I've set up each PC to
leave a copy on server, but delete after 10 days.

He now tells me that his PC gets 2 copies of every email, and over 200 spam
messages. His wife's PC gets just one copy of the emails and NO SPAM.

Has anyone heard of something like this before?
